Blairgowrie v Royal Aberdeen - Thursday 14th June 2018 - CANCELLED!
Due to the severe weather warning issued by the Met Office for Wednesday night & Thursday for Blairgowrie, ”Storm Hector’s” wind gusts are estimated to be between 50-70 mph, we have taken the decision, along with Royal Aberdeen GC, to postpone this Home match against Royal Aberdeen tomorrow.
This home match will be re-scheduled to 23rd August 2018. If you are unable to play on this date please let Ian McPherson know.
Yes, I know, tomorrow will probably turn out to be a lovely afternoon and the Met Office got it wrong again!
Your Captain for this match is Graeme Hunter. Please note the earlier meeting time of 10:45am for this home match. We will meet in the partitioned lounge for Coffee & Bacon Roll. First Tee off at 11:30am. There will be a complimentary drink and a meal after the match.
On a perfect summer day for Links golf and after a legendary Panmure G&T infused luncheon our team, led by Andrew McInroy delivered a healthy 7-1 defeat. Clearly a great day had by all on a magnificent golf course coupled with outstanding hospitality!
Sadly, on a perfect summers day at Blairgowrie we had a most enjoyable 5.5 - 2.5 defeat by Ladybank. Clearly Douglas Robertson and his team were not used to fair weather golf, but they did enjoy the post match meal supplied by Gary and Elain. Well done Douglas and his team. It's the participation not the winning.......
If for whatever reason you can’t play in any match, you should try to get a replacement, firstly from the reserve list then open it out to all the Senior members. When you do find a substitute it is imperative that you advise the Convener immediately, as he is producing the team pairings and draw.
Your cooperation would be appreciated. We don’t want a Grumpy Convener, do we?
Blairgowrie managed a 4.5 to 2.5 win in cold blustery conditions, but thankfully without rain. Gary & Elaine served an excellent meal which was enjoyed by everyone. Donald was fulsome in his praise for an excellent day at Blairgowrie. Well done Colin and the team, we needed that!
It was a challenging day at Glenbervie with a brisk cold wind from the west throughout the round. I wont dwell on the result which can be seen on our performance chart below, if you must! As always the hospitality was excellent and the course in good condition considering the hard winter and late spring.
Meet at New Clubhouse
St Andrews for coffee at09.30am-1st tee off is at 10:32am
Your Captain for this match is none other than our Club Captain Brian Wesencraft.
We are playing for THE BALI DODO TROPHY
which since the fixture started in 2000 has been played for 19 times and we
have only won the trophy five times - Last year we managed a 4-4 draw at St Andrews but won
handsomely at Home to retain the trophy. So it would be nice to hold the trophy
and a good away win would he a good start.
